The Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra invites you to hear the violin virtuoso and long-time friend of the orchestra Pavel Berman. The world-renowned violinist will perform Richard Strauss's Violin Concerto for Violin and Orchestra for the Kaunas audience. This work is an early work by Richard Strauss and was written in 1881, when the composer was only 17 years old. Strauss's work is characterised by elegance and refinement, and this work is no exception. It combines violin solo and orchestra to great effect, with a wealth of melodic and harmonic colour. This work is not as widely known or frequently performed as violin concertos by other composers, but it offers an opportunity to hear the early work of Strauss. The second part of the concert features Johannes Brahms' First Symphony, which took the composer 20 years to complete and is considered one of the most important symphonic works of the Romantic period. This evening's concert will be conducted by Jonas Janulevičius, a maestro well known to the Kaunas audience.
