Event description
A screening of recently digitised short films by Artūras Barys, a Lithuanian auteur filmmaker of great memory, co-founder of the avant-garde group IVTKYGYG, and cult underground personality, made between 1972 and 1982, which have been sitting on shelves for a long time, and with music specially composed by prominent contemporary Lithuanian composers and recorded in 2022, has been prepared especially for Vilnius. Never-seen-before, never-edited footage, never-before-seen stills, film statements from the depths of the Soviet era are complemented by original soundtracks drawn from Barys' legendary collection of lost late 20th-century pop and andereground music. Music that, like the films, exudes a passionate, satirical defiance of the façade of Homo Sovieticus. N-13
