December 31 6 p.m.
New Year's concert "Music of the Spheres. Physics and Metaphysics"
Piano duet Sonata Deveikytė-Zubovienė and Rokas Zubovas
M. K. Čiurlionis - "The Sun Walks the Zodiac"
G. Holst - "Planets"
The piano duet of Sonata and Roko Zubov invites you to pause for a moment on New Year's Eve and look at the change of the year from a wider perspective - that of the Cosmos. In the evening concert, the music will be enhanced with images, and the listeners will be guided through the trajectories of the planets of the Solar System and the fantastic paths of the Zodiac constellations. What message, what experiences do the planets and constellations give on New Year's Eve?
In the New Year's music program, the physical and metaphysical signs of the change of the year will meet. Composers-contemporaries, the Lithuanian M.K. Čiurlionis and the British G. Holst, look at the music of the spheres and the cycle of the year from different angles. Čiurlionis' point of view is the symbolically metaphysical cycle of the Zodiac. Twelve signs painted by the artist, twelve piano works carefully selected by pianist Roko Zubov, who will create a meditative dialogue between painting and music, will highlight the mystical qualities of each Zodiac sign. G. Holst's "Planets" is a physical, but no less symbolic, year cycle of the solar system, in which each planet is given a different prophetic role. The composer's original version for two pianos played at the concert will be complemented by filmed images of the planets of the solar system, creating dialogues between the reality of the planets and the composer's fantasy.
The piano duet of Sonata and Roko Zubov was "born" in 1997. The duo performed in major cities of the USA and Canada, Argentina and Uruguay, in many European countries (Great Britain, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Holland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Ukraine), and yes even in Asian countries - Iran and South Korea.
The Zubov duet performed with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Belarusian State Symphony Orchestra, the Kherson Symphony Orchestra, the Kaunas Symphony Orchestra, Šiauliai, Klaipėda, St. Christopher and Kaliningrad Philharmonic Chamber Orchestras, Vilnius State String Quartet, Čiurlionis Quartet, "Jauna muzika" choir, "Aukuro", "Aidijos", Vilnius University and "Dainava" (Chicago) choirs. S. and R. Zubov performed the world premieres of more than 10 works by different composers created for the duo.
