Have you seen how a performance is born in an empty space, out of nothing? How does this happen? Does it require a special environment? Or maybe just a lot of wit, fantasy and a good story?
In the play, the actors will reveal the incredibly interesting but little-known events in the life of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Steponas Bator in a fun and ironic way. The performance takes place in the open air and does not use the usual elements of drama theater - scenography, stage lighting, costumes, make-up, modern stage effects, etc. There will be no stage at all in the show. Once the audience has gathered, the actors will arrive on their two motorcycles, similar to the artists who traveled by carriage in the past, and after disembarking from them, they will begin their impromptu storytelling performance, using only what fits in the bags of their motorcycles.
While traveling on motorcycles all over Lithuania, the actors of the play not only organize performances, but also explore different parts of Lithuania, collecting new stories, legends, myths and artifacts that tell about local heroes of the past and present. They collect these stories and immediately use them in their next shows. In this way, every "Steppe, gaso!" the show is different all the time. "Storytelling allows you to masterfully lie based on real facts and a real story, adding your own interpretation and attitude to everything you tell about," says actor Laurynas Jurgelis.
"Stepai, gaso!" is a storytelling performance by two actors, revealing in a fun and ironic way the incredibly interesting but little-known events in the life of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Steponas Bator. Already in the first minutes of the performance, it will become obvious to the audience that S. Bator's life is full of interesting, intriguing and engaging adventures. This ruler of our country came from Transylvania, which is well known to the world because of the legendary count Dracula who lived there and his creepy stories.
During the performance, actors Laurynas Jurgelis and Aleksandr Špilevoj will tell a little-heard story based on real facts, but diluted with the actors' own ingenuity, fantasy and fun assumptions.
