Professor Dr. Petras Bielskis, an affiliated professor of Klaipėda University, promoter of theatre art, revivalist of theatre movement, celebrates his 90th birthday. His name is inseparable from the history of Lithuanian theatre - over the decades he has created numerous plays, spread culture through academic and artistic activities, and his works have left an indelible imprint on the artistic and educational space of Lithuania. During his long and meaningful career, Prof. Dr. Petras Bielskis has received many honourable awards, including the Balys Sruoga Prize, the Bishop Motiejus Valančiaus Prize, the title of Master of Culture of the City of Klaipėda, and other significant honours. He is known not only as a talented artist, but also as a teacher who has helped to educate new generations of theatregoers.
We cordially invite you to an event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Prof. Dr. Petras Bielskis! The event will take place on 20 February 2025, 6 pm, at the University of Klaipėda. During the event, an exhibition of paintings by Prof. Petras Bielskis will be opened, and the guests will have a unique opportunity to hear the jubilarian read the letters of Bishop Motiejas Valančius and get acquainted with his latest book "Small Sagas: the Echoes of Time".
