Built on the site of the temple of the legendary goddess of love, Milda, this church, today known as the "Pearl of Baroque" in Vilnius, is consistently ranked among the world's most beautiful churches. Indeed, once you step over the tomb of the temple's founder at the threshold of the entrance and step inside, the theatre of the vaulted vaults is breathtaking: angels and demons of war, saints and sinners, the moon and the sun, the drums of the army, the ghosts of the plague, elephants, dolphins, dragons, snakes ... - You won't be able to name them all and see them all, while you yourself will be followed by more than 2,000 pairs of their eyes. Each sculpture there tells its own story - sometimes of suffering, sometimes of love - and there are so many symbols and signs that we can hardly decipher them.
