The Kaunas Philharmonic will host a concert by guests from Poland - the Wrocław Baroque Ensemble conducted by Andrzej Kosendiak. The ensemble will present the works of two Polish composers, Józef Zeidler and Marcin Józef Żebrowski.
J. Zeidler is considered to be one of the most important Polish composers of church music of the 18th and 19th centuries, leaving a significant musical legacy of more than 30 liturgical vocal and instrumental works, including masses, requiem, missals, litanies, pastorals and others. As a violinist, singer, teacher and composer, M. J. Żebrowski is one of the most prominent representatives of 18th century Polish musical culture. His work was characterised by originality and diversity of genres and was published outside the Polish Republic. For a long time, the music of these two composers was forgotten and is only now being rediscovered and appreciated.
The Wrocław Baroque Ensemble is a renowned Polish music ensemble, which is part of the National Music Forum in Wrocław. Founded in 2012 by conductor A. Kosendiak, the ensemble is active in concert, performing early music, mainly Polish Renaissance and Baroque, and discovering little-known Central European repertoire. The ensemble is invited to various festivals and collaborates with well-known conductors and performers. Members of the ensemble are excellent instrumentalists and singers from various European countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Germany) and the United Kingdom.
The Wrocław Baroque Ensemble boasts an extensive record collection, including a series of Baroque repertoire CDs available on Spotify and distributed worldwide by the prestigious US label Naxos. A number of these recordings have won awards.
