April 20, 6 pm. Panevėžys Musical Theatre invites you to an exclusive concert dedicated to the 62nd birthday of the theatre's brass band "Garsas". In its traditional birthday concerts, the orchestra presents a new programme each time, and in recent years a new guest conductor. This year's gala concert will give you a unique opportunity to enjoy a programme by the talented conductor Leif Karlsson, featuring works by Hugo Alfvén, Jerker Johansson, Lars Färnlöf and other Swedish composers. 

GARSO Birthday #62 - more than a concert. It is a journey through the time and space of music, bridging past and present, classical and pop culture. It is a celebration where the Garsas Wind Orchestra will showcase its mastery in performing works by both 20th century and contemporary Swedish composers in a variety of genres - from marches to musical melodies. 

The concert programme is prepared by the orchestra's special guest L. Karlsson - the renowned Swedish conductor, Artistic Director of the Lithuanian Symphony Wind Orchestra and Chief Conductor Inspector of the Swedish Armed Forces. He has worked with many Scandinavian orchestras over the past decades and has premiered more than 250 works. As a Swedish Ambassador for the Arts, Mr Karlsson was awarded the "Positive Sweden" award and has performed during state visits abroad by the King and Queen of Sweden. He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.

Panevėžys Music Theatre Wind Orchestra "Garsas" (leader and conductor M. Bražas) is the largest and most prominent professional wind orchestra in the Aukštaitija region. The orchestra, which has been in existence since 1973, performs over 40 concerts annually throughout Lithuania, and its artistic activities are distinguished by interesting and ambitious concert programmes, including performances by famous singers and instrumentalists."The orchestra's birthday programme reveals a great variety of Swedish music - from works close to Richard Strauss's style to popular marches performed by Swedish military orchestras, I would like to invite every music lover to attend this concert," says M. Bražas.
