The exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of Stanislava Venclauskienė recreates the context of her lifetime. It shows Stanislava in the context of her time, revealing the challenges and trends of the period. The exhibition tells the story of her peers, comrades and like-minded women. It is an overview of women's life between the wars. The exhibition builds a portrait of an interwar woman out of many historical details. It tells the story of women who lived in a time of change. Coming from the old society, they were not afraid to be the first to take bold steps, to take on new activities, to fight for their rights. The exhibition tells the story of women's activities in the Lithuanian national revival, how they contributed to the restoration of the Lithuanian state, and how they took part in the state's social and political life. It tells how women sought education and training, how difficult it was for them to gain positions and how much they had to prove themselves in their professional activities. It also discusses the status of women in the family, how it has changed as society has modernised, and the joys and worries of motherhood. The exhibition will also give you an insight into the lifestyle of women between the wars, the fashions of the time and their leisure time. The visual solutions of the exhibition are based on the art deco style, which was popular in interwar Lithuania and fascinated women. We invite you to immerse yourself in the world of interwar women. And remember that today's women living in today's independent Lithuania should also be grateful to these brave and active women. The Venclauskas House-Museum (Vytauto str. 89, Šiauliai) will be open until 20 October.
