For the first time, one of the most prominent faces of Scandinavian improvisational and jazz music - saxophonist Torben Snekkestad - is coming to "Improdimensija". Snekkestad will present a special solo programme to the Lithuanian audience, where the threads of jazz, improvisation and classical music will intersect.
T. Snekkestad is considered one of the most versatile Norwegian saxophonists of his generation. He is known for his meticulous solo performances and monumental work with large ensembles. Torben is also active in the field of chamber music and is a frequent soloist in various symphony orchestras. Working between improvisation and classical music, between wide swathes of freedom and clear frameworks, he has developed a distinctive intermediate sound pattern, in which the Scandinavian melancholy also comes through strongly. This can be clearly seen in the recordings of the duo of Snekkeestad and Søren Kjærgaard.
Poetic, sensitive and with a great technique, Snekkeestad surprises even the harshest music critics. And his stage partners such as Barry Guy, Nate Wooley, Evan Parker, Augusti Fernandez, Mats Gutafsson, and many others have made no secret of the fact that it's a real pleasure to play with this one of Scandinavia's foremost artists!

Together with a guest from Norway, visitors to Improdimensija will have the opportunity to hear a new emerging duo on our scene - the duo of Marijus Aleksa, a drum and percussion ace, and one of the brightest experimentalists of the youngest generation, Kristofer Gikas, who is armed with a vinyl record player and a recorder and flute.
M. Aleksa is a true rhythm shaman, boasting a highly successful international career. He is an ambitious, technical and visionary drummer and percussionist. His work is like the canvases of the
Abstract Expressionists: colourful, vivid, intuitive and hypnotic. The musical maps of this master show the intersections of jazz, rock, electronic dance and world music from different eras
K. Gikas is a flautist, improviser, experimental musician and probably one of the most active artists of the younger generation, who does not shy away from trying his hand in various ensembles.
Sometimes he surprises with breathtaking flute performances, and sometimes he provokes the audience by jumping into the DJ Extended outfit and arming himself with vinyl record players to create
unrepeatable soundscapes.
What will happen when these two creative souls merge into one? The event is partly funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Vilnius Municipality
Venue. For students, schoolchildren and seniors - 15 eur
