What wonders can you find under the sole of your shoe!
Trial & Theatre is a company riding the crest of the contemporary puppetry wave.
In their new performance "Nano Steps - Into the Lab", the audience is invited to get in touch with a microscopic world.
The performance "Nano Steps - Into the Lab" will invite the audience into the midst of physics experiments in the basement of a lab. The scale of microparticles cannot be appreciated with the naked eye, but their world can be opened up through a microscope or other tools. In this laboratory, everything has an impact on the results of the experiments: the microscopic particles, the scientific equipment and the spectators themselves. Every performance is an open question. Does the microscopic world have anything to say?
"Nano Steps" is a series of performances based on an artistic investigation that began with the question: what would the world's smallest doll look like? "Trial & Theatre embarked on a meandering and unpredictable research process that led to calls to world-renowned professors and visits to Cornell University, the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the laboratories of Aalto University.
Nano Steps is a kind of science and object theatre project, presenting new approaches to microscopic puppetry borrowed directly from applied physics research. It raises important questions about the nature of research, knowledge creation and the objects and activities involved in these processes. The first performance in the series, Nano Steps - a Particle Performance, premiered at the City Theatre in Helsinki, Finland to great acclaim from audiences and critics. The second result of the research, Nano Steps - Into the Lab, premiered at the Alfred ve Dvoře in April 2024 and continues its journey from the collective's home country of Finland to other countries.
