Jazz Cellar 11 invites you to a special evening celebrating one of the most important figures in the history of jazz - Charlie Parker. 12 March marks the 70th anniversary of the death of the saxophone virtuoso (1920-1955). Parker was one of the most innovative musicians in jazz, who shaped bebop, a style of fast-paced, intricate harmony and virtuosic technique that became the foundation of modern jazz. His work continues to inspire jazz musicians and audiences around the world today.
On 14 March, we invite you to a concert dedicated to the memory of this legendary musician and composer. Saxophonist Manvydas Pratkelis, one of Charlie Parker's greatest influences, has taken up the task of bringing his legacy to life on stage. For many years Manvydas has been studying Parker's improvisational style and integrating it into his own playing, and his mastery was shaped by his master studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
This evening will be filled with Parker's compositions, which are full of energy, exceptional musicianship and innovative ideas. Whether you are already familiar with his music or are just beginning to discover the world of bebop, this will be a fascinating journey into the work of the legendary saxophonist.
