Samuel Blaser, a loyal friend of Improdimensija and one of the most outstanding trombonists, who innovatively combines classical, improvisational and jazz music, comes to Vilnius! And not alone, but with a solid entourage from the USA - pianist Russ Lossing and drummer Billy Mintz. Together, these three amazing musicians are hiding under the name Triple Dip. S. Blaser, R. Lossing and B. Mintz will combine not only different European and American traditions, but also different genre experiments, which they will try to wrap up in a chamber music paper.
S. Blasser - while still a student at the La Chaux de Fonds Conservatory in his native Switzerland - has won numerous awards for his authentic performance of classical and jazz music. After his studies in his native country, Blasser studied and worked in Vienna, New York, Berlin and other music-filled cities. The trombonist's field of interest ranges from jazz and classical to folk and even rock and blues. His motto is to use the trombone to its full potential and make it sound like it has never sounded before. For his visionary work, he was named 2018 European Musician of the Year and has been repeatedly recognised as one of the most important trombonists and composers of his generation by publications such as Downbeat and Jazz Magazine.
American pianist, composer, and improviser R. Lossing is acclaimed for his unique improvisation, which is characterised by depth and intelligence. After meeting the iconic composer John Cage at a young age, this pianist realised that the only right way to create is to be yourself, to create an authentic sound, not to copy or imitate. It is this approach that has led him to collaborate on dozens of albums with jazz masters such as Paul Motian, Tim Berne, Mat Maneri, Mark Dresser and others.
B. Mintz is a veteran of the New York scene, a rethinker of modern jazz and a generator of unconventional rhythms. Perhaps that's how you could describe this percussion ace, who will take the rhythmic helm of Triple Dip firmly in his hands. Throughout his career, Mintz has focused on teaching and performing in various parts of the world. He has played with a wide range of colleagues including Mose Allison, Mark Murphy, Billy Mayas, Bill Perkins and others. Mintz has released a number of solo albums that showcase his unique playing style and deep understanding of rhythm.
