Event description

NOTE: The description reveals last season's LKL Champions. The 2023-2024 season of Vilnius Rytas was like a roller coaster ride - a lot of downward spirals and a final upswing - the LKL championship.

The intrigue was maintained until the last minute, and it was all left on the court. This is what the Betsafe-LKL Grand Final looked like, and Vilnius Rytas fans can leave with their heads held high.
In the last part of the "Me2U Close Up" documentary season, the capital's club invites you to recall all the whirlwind of the decisive battles between Rytas and Zalgiris Kaunas.

After turning another page in the history of basketball and after most of the emotions had subsided, the team's strategist Giedrius Žibėnas, who spoke about the increased support of the Rytas community, spared no words of praise for the people of Vilnius."Every fan who comes to the Jeep Arena is ready to stand up for the colours of their team, the city and every single Rytas fan. It is only with the small steps we have taken this season that we can return to the glory days of Rytas. And glory is not just about results, it is about belief, the feeling of being respected by everyone without exception and the pride of representing your club," reasoned the head coach of "Rytas".
Marcus Foster, who won the hearts of the Vilnius players with his dedication to the team and emotions on the floor, reminisced about his first game in Lithuania and echoed the head coach. "The support of the fans has been incredible from the very first day here. I remember signing the contract and all the messages and the fans I saw when I arrived and how happy they were," said the American. - The first game is an important moment. I wasn't expecting too much, but at the start of the game I saw the fans coming to the arena and I realised that they were special.
Speaking to other players who have played at the Jeep Arena, you realise how difficult it is to play against us here and that gives you a real home advantage. Most of the fans thanked us for what we did, but I have to say thank you to them for the kind of support and motivation they gave me in these games. When the final series was over, I told people that I didn't even know how much I really needed Rytas in my life, who helped my career not only on the court, but also off the court."
With the challenges of the summer behind us and the staffing issues now resting on the shoulders of the Rytas sports team. Looking at the picture of the upcoming season, Donatas Zavackas, sports director of the capital's club, said that the first work for the next season started already in January with the renewal of the coaching staff's contracts.
"The current goal, as I say every year, if the team wants to be stable, we need to try to keep the core of players. We will see how much of that is possible or successful in the summer, but one thing we have to understand is that many players are increasing in value and it is not so easy to keep them," Zavackas said. - It's not always just financial, maybe a player wants to try himself in a different league or culture, so you have to take those things into account as well. The aim is always to keep the core and go into the next season with a few more players, and continuity is the key to stability and wins. If we can do that this summer, the results should be no worse than last season. Teams that keep the core for three or four years usually get good results, so that is the goal and we will see how we do in the summer."
