Virginijus Šimoliūnas (born 25 July 1951 in Kelme) is a Lithuanian artist, painter and teacher. In 1974 he graduated from Šiauliai Pedagogical Institute. Since 1974 designer of the Vilnius factory "Elfa", designer of the tape recorders "Tonika 10" and "Anchor". Later designer of Šiauliai TV factory. Since 1980 lecturer and associate professor at the Design Department of the Faculty of Arts, Šiauliai Pedagogical Institute (since 1997 Šiauliai University). Designer of "Gražina Design Studio", "SSP Group". Member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union since 1992. Since 1979 participates in city, republican and international exhibitions. Has held about fourteen solo exhibitions. His works are in prestigious interiors in Lithuania and abroad. Recently he has been working in the field of graphic design. Important works: he created the corporate style of the firms "Venta", "Arkada", "Liumenas", visual advertising for the shops "Elva" and "Moteriški drabužiai", painted the paintings "The Sea" (1983), "Posture for a Holiday" (1992), "The Cross" (1992), and others. Virginijus Šimoliūnas is a regular participant of the annual Šiauliai Artists' Exhibition, so Šiauliai residents are well aware of his graphic, subtly nuanced surrealistic paintings.
