In the past year, the Lithuanian Symphony Wind Orchestra has commissioned and initiated more than fifteen new works by Lithuanian composers. These telling figures are a testament not only to the orchestra's consistent commitment to promoting the music of Lithuanian composers, but also to its ambition to develop a new repertoire for brass bands. In recent years, the orchestra has collaborated with Žibuokle Martinaityte, Algirdas Martinaitis, Šarūnas Nakas, Zita Bružaite and other well-known Lithuanian composers. Continuing the tradition, this year we present the premiere of a work by composer and conductor Vykintas Baltakas, an active curator of contemporary music programmes, as well as the opus Jeux de Vents by Veronika Krausas, a Canadian composer of Lithuanian descent based in Los Angeles, specially commissioned works by the young generation composer Dominykas Digimas "swells, pines, rustles", "cooking, cleaning, creating" by Rita Mačiliūnaitė and "Crown" for large wind orchestra and percussion by composer, essayist, multimedia artist Šarūnas Nakas.
