Two young couples spend the weekend in a secluded cabin in the forest - their "north". The birthday celebration is disturbed by the unexpected news about the sudden death of a person who is important in his own way to all his friends. They have to choose: face reality and take responsibility for themselves and their neighbors or stay in the endless and eternal "north" - the abyss of dizziness. As complex relationships gradually unfold, the play's main themes - love, life and death - emerge. They are explored in the play through mythology and psychoanalysis, poetry and corporeality.
"12 grams to the north" is the latest work of 2019 "Golden Stage Cross" winner Aleksander Špilevojaus, created together with the actors of the Vilnius Small Theater and the electronic music group "Black Water". This is a play about the search for love, security and connection between people. And about death, which is always near. "With this performance, I wanted to open the door of perception. There is a lot of love behind them. Each character in the play has their own perception of love. But the topic of death is also very important. How to preserve love for oneself, people and the world in the face of the inevitability of death?" - playwright and director Aleksandras Špilevoj opens the door to understanding the play.
For more than two hours, the performance "12 grams to the north" immerses you in a flow of music, lights, movement, intense action and words. However, at the same time, it raises fundamental existential questions and invites you to rethink your values and choices.
