Vilius Vilutis (b. 1979 in Vilnius) started his creative activity in 2000. in the Oskar Korshunov Theater (OKT). With this theater, he toured the biggest international festivals and foreign theaters in Europe, Asia, Australia. in 2007 debuted at the Lithuanian National Drama Theater (LNDT) as a member of the creative team of the performance "Black Widow" directed by Yana Ross, he has created lighting designs for more than 30 performances in this theater. Since 2015 serves as LNDT's chief lighting artist. V. Vilutis often participates in events and projects combining various types of art, such as "Fashion infection", "Culture night" and others. He shares his experience with the young generation of theater artists: as a specialist for practical training, he periodically gives lectures to theater directing students of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater and students of the scenography program of the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
When creating lighting design for drama, dance, and musical performances, V. Vilutis precisely combines it with other elements of the stage work, uses various lighting techniques, directions of light sources, complex combinations of contrasting colors, with which he creatively transforms the space, emphasizes the psychological nuances of the action. V. Vilutis cooperates with well-known Lithuanian and foreign directors (Jonas Vaitkus, Gintarus Varna, Biruts Marcinkevičiūts, Artūrs Areim, Agnies Jankevičius, Yana Ross, Aleksandars Špilevojs, Kirils Glušajevs, Jons Tertels, Árpád Schilling, László Bagossy, Jo Strømgren, Kirsten Delholm and etc.), choreographers (Aira Naginevičiūte, Rūta Butkus, Loreta Juodkaite, Laurynas Žakevičius and Airida Gudaite, Leokadija Dabužinskaite, etc.).
The artist's work has been awarded two Golden Stage Crosses: in 2017 together with the creative group of the performance "Bone old man on an iron mountain" (dir. Jonas Tertelis, LNDT), 2019 for lighting design for Jo Strømgren's performance The Door (LNDT)
