The works of world star, Oscar-winner, famous American composer of Chinese origin, Tan Dunas, are very rarely heard in Lithuania. And tonight at the festival even two are presented! This is "Snow in June" and one of the most impressive compositions "Crouching Tiger Concerto" for cello and orchestra, based on the music of the well-known film "Crouching Tiger, Crouching Dragon" by Ang Lee, for which Tan Dunas won an Oscar. The author dedicated the piece to cello legend Yo-Yo Ma. With the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra and the percussion group Giunter Percussion, conducted by Martyn Staškas, Lithuanian and Korean cellists perform solos in the concert. Gleb Pyšniakas appears in the world's most famous halls, such as Vienna's Musikverein, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, the Rome Philharmonic, plays solo with various Lithuanian and foreign orchestras, and reviewers describe his music as follows: "You see, there is no emotion that this fiery temperament cannot convey a virtuoso who amazes listeners with his arsenal of techniques." The young Korean talent studying in Berlin, Kyung Jun Lee, is the laureate of the last International Cello Competition in Klaipėda, returning to Klaipėda this year not only as a member of the competition jury, but also with the impressive music of Tan Dun.
