Numerous competition wins and internationally acclaimed recordings present GUSTAV PIEKUT as a young pianist to be reckoned with. While still a student, critics in Denmark and abroad praised his playing technique, intelligence, grace and strength. Naxos Records recently released his second album Towards the Flame. "Only a true music poet, a true sound artist can play like this", wrote the international music magazine "Pizzicato", which gave the pianist the "Supersonic Pizzicato" award, and BBC Music Magazine noted: "Piekut hits the golden mean between technical precision and non-standard drawing ". The recording was nominated in the "Solo Album" category of the International Classical Music Awards. Highlights of the 2022-23 season: performances with the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra (Rachmaninov 3rd Piano Concerto), Columbia National Symphony Orchestra and Odense Symphony Orchestra (Brahms 2nd Piano Concerto), Slovak Košice State Orchestra (Prokofiev 3rd Piano Concerto) , Magdeburg Theater Orchestra (Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto), Aarhus Symphony Orchestra (Chopin's 2nd Piano Concerto), as well as several recitals, festival appearances and chamber music concerts in Denmark and abroad. After studying at the Gradus Pianist School with Martin Lysholm Jepsen, Gustav went to Germany, where he was a student of Professor Klaus Hellwig at the Berlin University of the Arts. In his debut recording, Piekut tackled one of the cornerstones of piano literature - Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. "The young Dane has proved himself worth the risk," wrote the British magazine Pianist; "[he] takes the listener on an incredibly exciting journey through Beethoven's complex landscape."
