Franz Schubert - Vocal cycle "Die schöne Müllerin" ("The beautiful miller") for voice and piano, Op. 25, z. W. Müller
This year marks two hundred years since the pioneer of the Lied genre, the Austrian Romantic Franz Schubert (1797-1828), composed one of the most wonderful vocal cycles, "The Beautiful Millwoman". The cycle, written with poetic text by Wilhelm Müller, tells the story of a young, traveling miller's love story accompanied by an unexpected end, which brings a variety of feelings to the young man. The young apprentice tells his only friend - the stream - about joyful and painful moments, the feelings that accompany them. Therefore, lovers of the Lied genre, laureates of international competitions, tenor Mindaugas Zimkus and pianist Paulė Gudinaitė invite you to listen to this one of the most beautiful and monumental works and immerse yourself in the journey of the young miller imbued with delicacy, fragility, classical romance and the most wonderful musical colors.
Tenor MINDAUGAS ZIMKUS - laureate of international competitions, winner of "Grand Prix" prizes in S. Bar's male voices (2001) and vocal chamber music "Beatričė" (2011) competitions, second place winner of LRT competition "Triumfo arka - auksinis balsas", "Fortūnos" graduate student, three times nominated for the Golden Stage Cross, 2009 recognized as the best soloist of the Kaunas State Musical Theater. A student of solo singing, Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater Prof. In Virgilijius Noreika's class, the singer has created more than twenty main roles in various operas, and his repertoire includes not only opera, operetta and musical genres, but also chamber vocal music and large concert genres. Currently, M. Zimkus is a soloist of the Kaunas State Musical Theater, a lecturer at the VDU Music Academy, a pedagogue at the Kaunas J. Gruodis Conservatory, and is invited to perform in various Lithuanian concert halls and festivals. The performer is also currently creating roles in the Klaipėda State Musical and Domino theaters.
Doctor of Arts, pianist PAULĖ GUDINAITĖ is a laureate of international competitions, she won the diploma of the best concertmaster at the international chamber music competition "Beatriče" (2011) and won the 1st place at the national concertmaster competition in Vilnius. After graduating from LMTA, where in 2011 obtained a bachelor of performing arts and in 2013 master's degrees in the piano classes of professors P. Geniuš and I. Armonienė's concertmaster, and in 2017 - defended the degree of doctor of arts in the field of music (prof. I. Armoniene, prof. R. Stanevičiūtė), currently she is a piano pedagogue at the Juozas Gruodis Conservatory in Kaunas. The pianist actively performs in various concert halls in Lithuania and abroad. P. Gudinaitė is a regular stage partner of tenor M. Zimkaus and mezzo-soprano Eglė Šidlauskaitė, she has performed with such singers as Raminta Vaicekauskaitė, Ona Kolobovaitė, Renata Dubinskaitė, Giedrius Prunskus, Igoris Bakanas, Tadas Girininkas, Vitaly Yushmanovas, Liza Antipova, Olena Tokar, Marion Gomar.
