tenor, 2003 graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music prof. Virgilijius Noreika's master's studies in solo singing. Interned at the LNOBT opera studio.
in 2004 made his debut at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater in the role of Count Almaviva in Rossini's opera "The Barber of Seville". in 2002 at the summer academy "Opera Island Bornholm" in Denmark, he performed the role of Ferrando in W. A. Mozart's opera "Cosi fan tutte" on the stages of Stockholm and Wolfeg opera houses. These and other roles are currently performed in LNOBT, Kaunas and Klaipėda musical theaters.
M. Zimkus performs a lot in various Lithuanian and foreign concert halls. His repertoire includes masses and oratorios by J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, W.A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven. The modern music of I. Stravinsky, C. Orff, S. Prokofiev, B. Britten, V. Bartulis is also close.
In the field of chamber music, he has prepared and performed several cycles of works. These are F. Schubert's vocal cycles "The Beautiful Millwoman", "Swan Song", B. Britten's vocal cycle "Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo".
The singer is the winner of several competitions. This is B. Grincevičiūtė's chamber music competition, 2nd place (2001); S. Bar Male Voice Competition, Grand Prix (2001); International Jyvaskule tenor competition, diploma (2002); Kaliningrad International Chamber Music Competition, diploma (2002).
