Perhaps the most famous Lithuanian piano duo - Zbignevs Ibelhauptas and Rūta Rikterė - are preparing for a special performance at the National Philharmonic. October 25 piano virtuosos will present an ambitious program of new classics. The works of US minimalism guru Steve Reich and the Lithuanian minimalism "magician" Bronias Kutavičius will be played, as well as the opus of one of the most interesting composers of today, pianist Fazil Say and Žibuoklė Martinatytė, who always captures the attention of the audience. Acclaimed percussionists of the young generation Džiugas Daugirda and Ernestas Verba will also take part in the concert.

Rikterė are the performers of the world premieres of many works by Lithuanian authors for two pianos, and the most interesting opus of foreign composers are heard on Lithuanian stages for the first time also thanks to this duo.
The piano duo of Zbignevs Ibelhaupt and Rūta Rikterė, laureates of the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize, regularly appears at prestigious international festivals, such as "Warsaw Autumn" (Poland), "Musikhost" (Denmark), "Music Niagara" (Canada), Ljubljana Summer Festival (Slovenia ), Uzedom Music Festival (Germany). Pianists participated in all the most important Lithuanian festivals: Vilnius, Pažaislis, Thomas Mann, "Gaida" and others. The duo organizes not only solo recitals, but also programs with singers, other soloists and orchestras. The duo has performed with the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, and the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Arturo Tamayo, David Gering, Olivier Grangean, Jose Serebrier, Pavel Berman, Juoz Domark, Robert Šervenik, Saulis Sondeckis and other batuta masters. Together with renowned Lithuanian percussionists Džiugus Daugirda and Ernesta Verba, the duo will perform Žibuoklė Martinaitytė's enchantingly expressive piece "Unic Form of Continuity in Space" for two pianos and two percussion instruments and Steve Reich's Quartet for two pianos and two vibraphones, which has conquered the concert halls of the world. S. Reich himself in 2013 calls the created Quartet one of his most complex compositions, in which the flow of the work is often interrupted by new material. According to the author, the Quartet requires special ensemble playing virtuosity. S. Reich's Quartet was performed for the first time by the famous British ensemble "The Colin Currie Group", which also performed in Vilnius a few years ago.
The duet concert will also feature one of the most outstanding masterpieces of Lithuanian new classics - Broniaus Kutavičius's "Disputa su nežanamųuų" for two pianos and phonogram. in 1982 the work written by B. Kutavičius eventually became an inseparable part of the repertoire of Z. Ibehaupt and R. Rikterė, its performance is eagerly awaited by both the duet of performers and the fans of B. Kutavičius's work.
