graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (1986) and an assistantship-internship there, gaining qualifications as a soloist, concertmaster, chamber ensemble artist and pedagogue. She is a laureate of the M.K. Čiurlionis International Piano Competition (1982), the V. Bucchi International Piano Duet Competition in Rome (1991), and a "Golden Disc" laureate (2001). in 1997 awarded with the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Art.
For more than 30 years, he and pianist Zbigniew Ibelhaupt have been fostering the piano duet genre. Constantly participates in various musical events in Lithuania and abroad: there are international festivals in Poland ("Warsaw Autumn"), Denmark (Musikhost), the Ljubljana Summer Festival in Slovenia, Germany (Usedomer musik festival), Canada (Music Niagara), Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania (Vilnius, Pažaislis, Thomas Mann festivals, "Gaida") and a participant in many others. The duo collaborated with many singers, instrumentalists, choirs, orchestras, performed with the Polish Radio National Symphony, Lithuanian National Symphony, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Belarusian State Chamber Orchestra conducted by Arturo Tamayo, David Gering, Olivier Grangean, Jose Serebrier, Pavel Bermanas, Juozas Domarkas, Saulius Sondeckis and others.
Duet recitals were held in Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Russia, the ensemble participated in the program "Vilnius - European Capital of Culture", the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The duo's concerts are broadcast on Lithuanian and European radio stations, a number of radio and television recordings have been recorded, and CDs have been released.Rūta Rikterė has accumulated an impressive concert repertoire, which mainly consists of works for two pianos from J.S. Bach to the present day. Openness to innovation, interpretive flexibility and precision of performance helped to earn an exceptional reputation in the field of contemporary music performance. She pays special attention to contemporary Lithuanian music: she nurtures the history of Lithuanian music, edits editions of Lithuanian music scores, is the initiator and first performer of many works by Lithuanian composers.
She teaches at master's courses in Lithuania and abroad, and is a member of the jury of national and international competitions. There are many projects that received the Culture Support Fund, Vilnius city. coordinator and executor of municipal support.
