I'm begging you, please share the pain
With the one who is suffering today. After all, another time
Wandering misfortune also visits others.
- I'm not Prometheus, but if I were...
- If Prometheus were me...
- I think Prometheus was...
Almost all of us know the stories of Greek mythology about the prudent and caring titan Prometheus, who disobeyed the gods of Olympus and gave fire to mortals. And if you had to be Prometheus yourself, would you dare? What would your Promethean story be?
Three actors of the young generation of the Theater of Strangers - Justina Smieliauskaitė, Matas Pranskevičius and Jurgis Marčėnas - present their own interpretation of the ancient myth to the audience. Sharing autobiographical stories, the cast weaves a personal relationship with Prometheus and his gift: the hopes and fears, admiration and shame, learning from mistakes and repeating mistakes that come when faced with fire. At the same time, while traveling through different historical periods and looking at today's culture, the creators wonder if there are human Prometheans? Maybe it's those who, even knowing that if they disobey the existing order, they will get themselves into trouble, decide to make sacrifices just for the sake of others' chance to warm up?
This theater work is dedicated to those human Prometheans.
