Can a dog be considered human? This seemingly silly question is actually not that simple, as the story Kashtanka by the Russian classic Anton Chekhov show. The writer was able to connect with an extremely ordinary dog named Kashtanka to such extent that his story excites both children and adults, as if it were a human story. This work was published 120 years ago on Christmas Eve – and as they say, this is the day animals are able to talk. During the performance, Kashtanka will address the audience through the musical voices of two wonderful and talented actresses of our theatre. They seemingly invite the audience: “Let’s reveal the secret of a dog’s heart together!” Circus, clowns and trained animals – all of this will come to life on-stage thanks to the actresses’ inventive play. As for what fate was in store for the talented ‘artist’ Kashtanka, and whether there was human meaning in the dog’s fate – we’ll let the audience decide for themselves.
