Marina Chaplina was born in Moscow. The first place of work was the Puppet Theater under the direction of S.V. Obraztsov. Initially, she dreamed of becoming a theater artist, but then she changed her plans and entered the directing department of GITIS, which she graduated in 1982. At the Gnessin School she taught acting skills, while working in parallel in other creative universities and theaters.
In 2015, M. Chaplin created her own small theater group and became an independent director. The play "Kashtanka" earned high marks at various festivals, including the victory in the nomination "Best Director's Work" in Druskininkai at the "Crossroads" festival. Then in Lithuania, at two festivals, another mono-performance "Resort Question" was shown and received the award "Best Mono-performance".
