"The Little Prince" is an allegorical fairy tale by French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, published in 1943. The story, which has become a classic, has thrilled many hearts around the world. The Little Prince's love, loyal and never-ending friendship and ability to see with his heart are still read about today, not only by children but also by adults.
Andra Kavaliauskaitė, the director and author of the staging, brings this story to the stage and makes it sound new. The first is the story of the acquaintance and friendship between ten-year-old Rūtenis and the Stranger, a friendship they both needed like a breath of air to fill the void left by their relatives.
Another story, about the Little Prince, is told by the Stranger to his new friend, trying to answer the boy's important questions: Why don't grown-ups have time? Why do adults say I understand when they didn't understand anything? Why do children have to be in their place when they don't know where it is and why it is theirs? Why does the tip of a fox's tail change colour?
"The Little Prince is a play that invites us to pause and look at the world with an open heart, remembering the power of loyalty, responsibility, friendship, faith and love.
