in 1988 On the initiative of the Alytus city municipality and culture workers, it was decided to create a professional theater in the city of Alytus. in 1989 Young directors Dalia Kimantaitė and Arvydas Kinderis are invited to work in Alytus. in 1990 they were joined by Loreta Liausaitė. The first performance based on O. Milašius' fairy tale "Imperatorius Jonas Beširdis" was staged in the basement of a five-story house, and its premiere took place at the Kaunas Puppet Theater Festival.
In the first years, the troupe did not have professional actors, so the directors paid a lot of attention to the work in the studio. Teachers from Vilnius and Klaipėda universities, Moscow Art Theater were invited here. The activities of the emerging troupe were multifaceted: they created puppet, choreographic, performances, organized artistic campaigns, creative camps. in 1992 actress and director Vesta Grabštaitė, who studied the acting method of Tadashi Suzuki's drama actors at the Japanese Performing Arts Center, worked with the theater troupe according to T. Suzuki's methodology.
