The chamber opera is based on Vincos Mykolaitis-Putin's poem "Žilvinas ir Eglė" - it is a stage work that can touch all the mentioned factors. The modern dramaturgical look at the legend of the Lithuanian poetry classic inspired the creative team to highlight even more the human lines touched by the poet. The goal of the creators is not a chrestomatic-folkloric or illustrative recreation of the legend, but relying on the legacy of their nation, through music, voice and movement, to present themes and problems that are understood and experienced in today's societies around the world.
The main axis of the performance is pure, unconditional, self-sacrificing love, which is not allowed to spread by intolerance of those who think differently, segregation in society and a sensitive topic among young people - bullying and hatred. Growing up in a traditional society, Eglė falls in love with Žilvina, who is the king of snakes in legend. By the standards of today's society, he is simply a misunderstood, misfit young man. The love between two people is not tolerated and condemned by those around them, so everything ends with the tragic death of Žilvins...
