On the stage of the Theater of Keistuoliai - a work that looks back at the often forgotten young personality entering adult life in theaters. The actors of the Theater of Keistuoliai, who are well known to the audience, together with representatives of the youngest generation of the theater, explore the complex story of two young brothers on stage, opening to the audience an unexpected look at the world in which we grow and mature.
Provocative, world-renowned Irish playwright Martin McDonagh became familiar to the audience of Keistuouli Theater as early as 2007 with Aidos Giniotis's play "Luošys iz Ainishmanas salos". Now Mr. McDonagh returns to this stage in the form of the two-part crime story "Pagalvinis" directed by Ieva Stundzytė. The play opens with the interrogation process, drawing the grotesque and contradictory story of the brothers Katurjans (Matas Pranskevičius) and Michals (Džiugas Širvys/Danas Kamarauskas). Writer Katuryan's works - short stories full of brutal imagination and masterful puzzles - prove to have unlimited freedom and impact; they are powerful tools that can exact vengeance and bring death.
"Pillowman" directed by Ieva Stundzytė, at first glance, is not a typical performance of the KeistuoliaiTheater. "Pillowman" is filled with the cruelty experienced by those born under an unfortunate star - the inevitable themes of childhood trauma, loss of loved ones, forced adult children. However, this is only the first layer, after which completely opposite perceptions visit - lightness, purification. As Matas Pranskevičius, the actor playing the role of Katurjan, says: "I can be born and die in the play. And then you see that somehow everything ends well. No matter what happens in the world, somehow everything ends well. And the performance brings that strange joy."
