The Vilnius University (VU) Chamber Orchestra invites you to a very special concert, which brings together the European classical music tradition and Spanish modernism. The orchestra will be conducted by guest conductor Gabriel Delgado from Spain.
The concert programme will feature Joaquín Turina's masterpiece of Spanish modernism, La Oración del Torero, Op. 34, a prayer of the Toreador, which is characterised by its emotionality and the dynamic spirit of Spanish music. The concert will continue with Leoš Janáček's Suite for String Orchestra, a melodious and expressive work in the Czech musical tradition. At the end of the event, the audience will enjoy Ottorino Respighi's majestic Suite for organ and strings in G major, which combines the power of the string orchestra and the organ to create an impressive musical harmony. The organ part in this work will be performed by the talented soloist and organist Živilė Survilaitė.
"Combining the professionalism of the chamber orchestra with the experience of the internationally renowned conductor Gabriel Delgado, we have a great result, which I am sure will be appreciated by our audiences. We will experience the warmth of Spanish modernism, the liveliness of the Czech tradition and the Italian grandeur of Respighi, all brought together by Delgado's performance, which gives the music a subtlety, precision and emotional depth that enriches every note. This is a concert where everyone will be able to immerse themselves in the extraordinary world of chamber music," says Modestas Jankūnas, director of the VU Chamber Orchestra.
