"Four gems of unknown music. Four proofs that a string quartet can take the form of a beautiful, homogeneous dialogue between partners speaking in the same voice. The same does not mean the same. So, it's time for another discovery: young pearls of new music," wrote the Polish press around 2011. Polish Cello Quartet, a quartet of four young cellists. In order to show the wider public how original the sound of a cello ensemble can be, the quartet performs intensively, participates in international festivals, and plays with classical and jazz musicians. The members of the quartet freely change the parts of the pieces they perform, which gives their music new colors and the impression of constant renewal. By the way, in 2019 "Polish Cello Quartet" won the prestigious "Fryderyk" award for the album of the works of the famous Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz, who is related to Lithuania.
The homogeneous composition ensembles that managed to become popular in Europe also became an inspiration for five talented Lithuanian cellists - members of various ensembles and orchestras, distinguished by their active concert activity. in 2020 the musicians of the established "Cello Club" say that the very name (lit. "Cello Club") encodes a message of openness, which does not commit to a single composition and leaves the freedom to choose the program or stage partners. The audience should not be surprised to hear Cello Club playing both serious academic music and popular classics as well as works of a lighter genre, without shying away from humor and blurring the lines between serious art and entertainment.
This concert reflects the choices of both ensembles and promises a unique experience for the listeners - to dive into the immersive sea of cello timbres and the world of new creative ideas.
