R. Schuman's vocal cycle "A woman's love and life"
The Panevėžys String Quartet presents a new program, which includes two bright opus of composers of the Romantic era, which left a deep mark in the history of world music: A. Dvořák's "American" quartet and R. Schuman's vocal cycle "Women's love and life", which the quartet will perform together with the soloist Jomante Skiing.
The string quartet in F major by the Czech composer A. Dvořák is also called "American", created while the composer was living in the United States. Fresh, vigorous and optimistic, the opus, which requires a particularly virtuosic performance, was first performed in 1893. in Boston and is still one of the most popular pieces in the chamber music repertoire.
R. Schuman's vocal cycle based on the lines of the German poet A. von Chamiss is one of the composer's most outstanding vocal works. The cycle consists of eight songs, which delicately and deeply convey different states, the experiences of a woman, experiencing the most important and most beautiful feeling - the feeling of love, which keeps changing while traveling through different stages of life: falling in love, becoming a wife, mother, and finally - experiencing the loss of a loved one.
The repertoire of the Panevėžys String Quartet, which celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary last year, includes music from various eras, genres and styles. The quartet's concerts include not only classical music, but also entertainment and jazz compositions. Every year, the collective prepares even several programs of various kinds, in which famous musicians from Lithuania and abroad appear together. The quartet actively participates in the cultural life of Lithuania, organizes sacred music concerts in Lithuanian churches, performs at festivals, exhibitions, goes to schools and kindergartens with educational programs, participates in festivals ("For Music and Childhood", "St. Cecilia", "On the Cathedral Steps", "Bistrampolis Festival", "Heaven Proclaims God's Glory", "Poetry Spring"). The collective performed in Poland, Latvia and Sweden.
