Now I would like to be myself.
Cruel, dark, merciless.
Helpless, sick, noble.
Dying and reborn. In order to live.
From the poem "20 Confessions"
June 20 5:30 p.m. "Prospekto" gallery (Gedimio pr. 43, Vilnius) opens a group photo exhibition "Sigito Gedos veidai" dedicated to commemorating the poet's 80th birthday. The exhibition will be open until July 20.
February 4 of this year. one of the most important Lithuanian poets of all time, Sigit Geda, turned 80 years old. On this occasion, a photo exhibition is presented, in which different faces of S. Geda were captured by different photographers at different stages of life - A. Sutkus, A. Kunčius, R. Rakauskas, A. Aleksandravičius, R. Požerskis, A. Baltėnas, R. Danisevičius, O. Pajedaitė and others.
The photos show the poet with his family at home, at his father's homestead, at various events, with colleagues. The photographs show that each author tried to capture not only S. Geda's face, but rather his soul, where volcanoes slept, fish swam, birds flew, love for every living creature mingled with the eternal chaos of the world.
Sigitas Geda - poet, playwright, essayist, literary critic, translator. Born 02.04.1943 in Paterai, Lazdijai district. Died on 12.12.2008 in Vilnius.
