Experimenting, the photographer attempts to grasp and convey the multidimensionality of objects, landscapes and the human condition, combining analogue photography, embroidery and silkscreen. For Ula, it is not only what she photographs that is important, but also the subconscious feeling that arises when taking a photograph. The person taking the photograph invades the image being photographed - thus adding to the narrative of the content itself. By exploring the notion of home, searching for a familiar closeness in a foreign place and finally embroidering the captured images, the artist merges her personal experience with the image - opening up a new perspective of not only the external, but also the internal of the image to the viewer. The constant rush of the contemporary man - running through cities, through countries - raises the problem of the search for home. The author captures episodes resembling home in an ever-changing world through the lens of a lens, and interweaves them with her own personal experience - the old threads of her grandmother in Seda, discovered on the floor. This duality allows us to purify the experience of home by considering whether home is assigned to one location, one country, or whether we all carry this home within us. Ula Kociūtė (b. 2001) was born and grew up in Klaipėda. She tries to convey unspoken thoughts, questions or feelings visually. In her work she mainly uses the media of photography and textiles, interweaving them with each other. The artist connects the creative process with the search for identity, reflecting on the mountains and hills of life, observing the changing environment. The works are atmospheric, rhythmic and evoke a sense of nostalgia. They are about distant, personal, and sometimes not so much, visible, but more often invisible realities. She has previously presented her work in Germany, Portugal and Lithuania. The exhibition will be on view at the KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens g. 2, Klaipėda) until 2 March.
