The axis of the performance, Vincos Krėvė's story about the daughter of the Sun, the weaver - Vaiva (mythical goddess of goodness and beauty), and her story with the inhabitant of the earth, the musician - Straublius (Lithuanian Orpheus) and the stormy ruler of the sky Thunder (the highest god of the Lithuanian Pantheon). The story begins on the coast of the Baltic Sea. The goddess Vaiva is charmed by the wonderfully playing musician Straublys. On St. John's Eve, fairies, forest creatures and inhabitants of the earth go wild. The daughter of the sun weaves a ribbon of indescribable beauty from stars, sunlight, and dew drops and descends on it to the seashore to listen to the musician Straublis. Young people immediately fall madly in love with each other. The love of Vaiva and Straublis is seen by the devil, a spy of the God of Thunder. Suddenly, the angry Thunder, who had looked down on Vaiva as his future bride, falls to the ground with thunder. But the daughter of the sun does not agree to be the wife of the fiery sky lord. The thunderbolt is furious, kidnaps the beautiful weaver and flies her to his heavenly kingdom. Straublys has been suffering with Vaiva for ten years. Vaiva, forced to become Thunder's wife, settled in the god's palace at the bottom of the sea, like a captive, looked after by courtiers, and kipsh, begins to weave a web of sadness and pain out of grief. Unable to bear it any longer, when the opportunity presents itself, Vaiva cuts her belt and runs away to the shore of the Baltic Sea, where the goddess hears a sad melody, runs towards her and sees her beloved Straublis, who has been waiting for her for so long. Vaiva gives Straublis a ribbon, their love is alive, but soon the sky darkens, Thunder strikes Vaiva with lightning and thunder, she dies, but still manages to transfer her divine creative powers to Straublis, the lovers seem to merge into one body, a wonderful band lights up in the sky, Vaiva's soul , until now called the rainbow or the rainbow strip - awakens inspiration and nurtures talents.
The ballet music was recorded by the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Modestos Pitrėnas.
The music of V. Jakubėnas raised from the ashes shows that there were great composers in Lithuania, whose works must be made public. As Kristina Tarasevičiūtė, the performer of the main role, says: "This ballet is important because the dancers can revive Lithuanian nationalism with it."
