The people of the Miežiškis region are musical and song-loving. Since ancient times, they have sung while working and resting, and when celebrating, songs would travel from village to village. At the beginning of the 20th century, evenings organized in the villages of the Miežiškis region were a great opportunity for the artistic expression of youth. After World War I, in 1928, the first Miežiškis play, “Fapartio žiedas”, was staged in the restored barn of farmer Kazimieras Rimša. The tradition of organizing plays was continued by the Miežiškis Progymnasium, established in 1947. In 1950, culture houses were opened in Miežiškis. The number of independent art groups increased, and their artistic level rose. In 1961, the Miežiškis Culture House won first place in the republican inspection of cultural and educational institutions. For the results of its work in 1962, it again earned first place. The institution received the prize “Excellently Working Culture House”. In 1967 Miežiškiai residents became widely known - the musical and dramatic program "Ženykis, vaike" created in Miežiškiai was shown on Lithuanian television. Miežiškiai art groups are participants of many Song Festivals, regular participants, laureates, winners of regional and national festivals, competitions, and competitions. Miežiškiai Cultural Center was awarded the diploma of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania "Best Rural Cultural Center of 2002". On November 19, 2003, by the decision of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, the Cultural Center of Miežiškiai Eldership of Panevėžys District was registered. In 2016, Miežiškiai became the small capital of Lithuanian culture. In 2018, the center building was renovated and a new auditorium was built.
