The Garden in Vingy was previously called the Department of Plant Systematics and Geography. This branch of Vilnius University Botanical Garden collects and grows over 1200 named plants from all geographical areas of the world. The collections include a wide variety of plant families, genera, species and varieties.
The history of Sodo Vingyje territory is old and rich not only in events, but also in long-lived trees. Trees and shrubs in the Dendrological Collections can be found throughout the territory of this garden, in total there are about 250 names of woody plants.In the garden, Neris flows along the sides and provides refreshment, on the eastern side there is a high and long slope, so you can feel like you are at the foot of a big mountain. Nothing blocks the southern sun, so it's so hot here in the summer that you might think you're in the far south. The pine forest blocks the north wind. No city noise, no smells of civilization, a calm, quiet and transparent oasis of nature. In spring, the garden blooms with all possible colors of bulbous flowers. This parade is started by egrets, snowdrops, crocs, and sparrows. Later it is continued by hyacinths and hyacinths. The apogee is when the tulips open.
