Studied in Kėdainiai, Šeduva, Kaunas high schools. After his parents were taken to Siberia, he stopped his studies, went into hiding, and worked at various jobs. Later, he studied Russian language and literature at the Vilnius Pedagogical Institute (now the Lithuanian University of Education). He worked at the State Fiction Publishing House, was employed as a fitter, accountant. He made his way in literature with difficulty, suffering from Soviet censorship. Many songs have been created based on his lyrics. He has published his works in various almanacs ("Poetic Druskininkai Ruduo", "Poezijos pavasaris", "Winter and Death", "Takai prie svetno: Radviliškis krastas almanachas", etc.), anthologies, collections in Lithuanian and foreign languages (English, German, Russian, others). Translated and published by A. Mickevičius, M. Lermontov, A. Pushkin, N. Nekrasov, F. Schiller, K. Cavafy, R. M. Rilke, Č. Works by Miloš and other authors. in 2001 Vytautas V. Landsbergis made a film about the poet "Shaman of Švendubre".
