T. Janson studied art in Helsinki, Stockholm and Paris. In the beginning, she illustrated books by other authors, and in 1938 T. Janson wrote her first book "Little Trolls and the Big Flood", which she illustrated herself. Thus began a whole series of books about the adventures of the troll Moomins: "The Wizard's Hat" (1948), "Memoirs of Moomin Dad" (1950), "Frightful Midsummer" (1954), "The Magical Winter" (1957), "The Invisible Child" (1962). and others. These books led the writer to world fame, they were translated into more than 30 languages. In 1966, Tuvė Janson became the laureate of the Hans Christian Andersen Prize. She also received many different awards, including the highest award for children, the Order of Smiles.
