Vytautas Kupšys was born on 2 June 1962 in Darbėnai (Kretinga district).
In 1984 he graduated from the Klaipėda faculty of the then State Conservatoire and gained a specialisation in theatre directing. In 1987, he received an acting diploma from the State Conservatoire. Since 1984 he has been working as an actor at the J. Miltinis Drama Theatre.
