Born in Klangiai village, Jurbarka district. Studied at Vilkija Gymnasium, 1951. graduated from Vilnius University. She worked at the publishing house "Vaga" as an editor, director of the translated literature department and translator.
She learned Swedish on her own. He has translated more than 50 books, the most famous of which are: Astrid Lindgren's "The Lionheart Brothers", "Emil from Lyonenberg", "Peppa Longfoot", "Ronja, the Robber's Daughter"; Marija Gripė's "The Extraordinary Story of Agnes Cecilia", "Time of Bells" and others.
