one of the most famous Latvian theater figures. in 1969 graduated from A. Lunačiarskis Theater Art Institute in Moscow, student of A. Efros. 1969-1989 Director of the Valmiera Drama Theater. 1975-1993 taught acting and directing at the Latvian Jazeps Vytuolis Conservatory in Riga (since 1991 the Latvian Jazeps Vytuolis Academy of Music), since 1996 – at the Latvian Academy of Culture in Riga. 1990-1993 theater "Kabata" in Riga, 1994-1996. and since 2003 Director of the New Riga Theater.
