Alvydas Šlepikas - poet, prose writer.
Born 27 01 1966 in Videniškiai, Molėtai district.
In 1984 graduated from secondary school. Studied at Vilnius 21st Technical School. After graduation he served in the Soviet army in Kazakhstan for two years. After returning, he worked for a while as a locksmith and lathe operator in factories. From 1988 to 1994 he studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, graduating as a drama actor (1992) and drama director (1994). From 1995 to 1999 he edited the weekly magazine "Literatūra ir menas". He was an actor at the Vilnius Maly Theatre and later at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre. He has created and directed plays in these theatres and Kaunas Drama Theatre. Currently, he is an editorial staff member of "Literaturas ir meno", an actor, and a director of drama television series. He made his debut as a poet in 1994 in the anthology "Strangers". His works have been published in the almanacs "Poezijos pavasaris", "Poetinis Druskininkų ruduo", "Junželio sodai", "Po šiaurės dangum", etc. Author of song lyrics. Member of Lithuanian PEN Centre. Lives and works in Vilnius.
Member of the Lithuanian Writers' Union since 1998.
