in 1976 graduated in psychology and philosophy from the Faculty of History of Vilnius University. He worked in the Chief Editorial Office of encyclopedias, as a lecturer at the Lithuanian Art Institute. in 1986 emigrated to the West. Since 1989 Fellow of Radio Free Europe in Munich, 2001-2004. - director of the Lithuanian department in Prague. Since 2004 lives in the USA.
