Born on 14 February 1907 in Stebeikėliai (Pasvalys district).
Died on 11 July 2002 in Los Angeles, buried in Petrašiūnai Cemetery in Kaunas.
In 1929 he graduated from Biržai Gymnasium, in 1929-1934 he studied Lithuanian studies at LU / VMU. Participated in the section of the Student Humanities Society (in 1931 he headed it), and in the "Šatrija" Art Society. After graduating from the university, he taught Lithuanian language in various courses and schools, worked at the Sakalas publishing house, and from 1940-1944 was the head of the Maironis Literature Museum. He edited the student newspaper "Lietuvos studentas" (Lithuanian Student) (1932-1940), the magazines "Ateities spinduliai" (Ateities spinduliai) (1932-1940), "Pradalgės" (Pradalgės) (1934-1935), "Dienovidis" (Dienovidis) (1938-1939), and in 1942 - the almanac "Literature Yearbook". In 1944 he left for the West, lived in Germany, and participated in the cultural life of Lithuanian emigrants in Ravenbsurg. In 1947 he edited the yearbook of the Lithuanian Writers' Association "Years of Exile". In 1949 he moved to the USA, Boston, and lived in Los Angeles. He was the editor of the general literature section of the Lithuanian Encyclopaedia, edited the children's newspaper "Eglutė" from 1949-1950, and worked as the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Lithuanian Days" from 1955-1972. In 1961-1965 and 1980-1983 he was the chairman of the LRD (Lithuanian Writers' Society in Exile). Other aliases: J. Stebeikis, B. Brn., B. Nardis Brazdžionis, Bern. Žvainius, J. In 1997 he made a documentary film "Bernardas Brazdžionis. The Return" (scriptwriter and director Algirdas Tarvydas), and in 2001 - a video of the same title. In 2002, the book "Poet Bernardas Brazdžionis Returns to Lithuania: Photographs, Poems, Articles" was published. In 2020, in Pasvalys, at the confluence of the Svalia and Lėvens rivers, the poet Bernard Brazdzidzei will be commemorated with a memorial to the poet Bern.
