Born on 22 July 1946 in Plateliai, Plungė district.
In 1972 she graduated from Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) University with a degree in philology, majoring in Romance studies. From 1978 to 2008 she worked at the Vaga publishing house, editing publications translated from French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian. As a project manager, she curated Romance Languages Literature and the World Literature Library series. The first publication in translation appeared in 1980.
