Biografia
Born on 19 April 1930 in Bulzegeniškiai, Jurbarkas district. Died 18 10 2019 in Vilnius.
In 1954 he graduated from the Faculty of Historical Philology at Vilnius University and in 1955 from the J. Tallat-Kelpša Music School. Taught at the Vilnius Construction Technical School. He was arrested in 1957 for anti-Soviet activities and was imprisoned in Siberia, Taishet, 1957-1960. From 1961 to 1974 he worked as a technologist at the Calculating Machines Factory, Ministry of Health. 1974-1990 Editor of the Chief Encyclopaedia Editorial Office, then worked for a long time as an editor at the Publishing House of the Lithuanian Writers' Union. 1992 - Member of the Council of the Sąjūdis Seimas. Since 1998 he has been the President of the Lithuanian Association for the Defence of Human Rights.
