Born on 18 April 1939 in Mažeikiai. Died 28 October 2014 in Vilnius, buried in Antakalnis Cemetery.
Graduated from the Seda Labour Youth School, worked in the editorial offices of the Skuodas newspaper "Mūsų žodis" and the magazine "Nemunas", as a builder, a locksmith, a radio correspondent, and a teacher in Mosėdy. Granauskas' books have been translated into 11 foreign languages, and his works translated into 7 other languages have been included in anthologies.
